The Lucas Cubs will venture away from home to take on the St. Paul Flyers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Lucas has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Lucas couldn't beat East Knox on Thursday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fifth inning. The Cubs came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 12-5. The Cubs haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Brady Anschutz was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Lucas is 2-1 when Anschutz posts three or more RBI, but 5-7 otherwise.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Paul, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Monroeville on Thursday. The Flyers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
St. Paul also got a great performance from Nate Griffin as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Griffin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, St. Paul let Casey Fries and Izaac Snyder run wild. Fries went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Snyder got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits Fries has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Snyder, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
St. Paul has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lucas, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lucas has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like St. Paul struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Lucas beat St. Paul 9-4 in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cubs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
