Two dominant players in Tico Smith and Rodney Paz are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Meadowbrook Academy Mustangs will stay at home for another game and welcome the Ocala Christian Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on December 14th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Monday, Meadowbrook Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Redeemer Christian, but they still walked away with a 57-53 victory.
Meadowbrook Academy found their leader in underclassman Smith, who scored 23 points along with six steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least 25% of Meadowbrook Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Gaige Daugherty, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Ocala Christian had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Cornerstone Academy by a score of 49-36 on Tuesday. That 49-36 margin sets a new team best for Ocala Christian this season.
Meadowbrook Academy pushed their record up to 6-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Ocala Christian, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-5.
Meadowbrook Academy took a serious blow against Ocala Christian in their previous meeting back in January, falling 59-20. Can Meadowbrook Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
