The McKenzie Tigers and the Opp Bobcats will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. McKenzie will be strutting in after a victory while Opp will be coming in after a loss.
McKenzie can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They secured a 69-63 W over Red Level. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
McKenzie relied on the efforts of Jaylen Mcmillian, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Jay Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jackson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Quay Jackson, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Opp's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 58-44 to Elba.
Despite the loss, Opp got a solid performance out of Dorian Harris, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Harris hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Colby Ballard, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds.
McKenzie's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-10. As for Opp, they dropped their record down to 2-19 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
McKenzie lost to Opp on the road by a decisive 70-55 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can McKenzie avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
