If the Crawford Colts were riding high off their 51-25 takedown of the Kearny Komets last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Crawford had to suffer through a rough 73-44 loss at the hands of Point Loma. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Crawford has scored all season.
Several Colts players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tremell Jackson, who scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominick Espalin, who scored 14 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Point Loma to victory, but perhaps none more so than Grant Stewart, who went 7 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 3 assists. Stewart is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Nick Freeman, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Crawford has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. As for Point Loma, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crawford will square off against Sweetwater at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Sweetwater is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for Point Loma, they will head out on the road to take on Canyon Hills at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Canyon Hills knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Point Loma likes a good challenge.
