The Magdalena Steers will face off against the Eunice Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Magdalena 2.8, Eunice 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Magdalena proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 14) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over Mesilla Valley Christian School.

Josiah Candelaria made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over 6.2 innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Mathew Lopez was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Eunice entered their tilt with Hozho Academy on Friday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They blew past the Wolves 10-3. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by seven runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Ethan Wilson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. That home run was his first of the season. Luis Zamora was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs and one double.
Eunice kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hozho Academy only managed three.
Eunice's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Magdalena, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Magdalena has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Eunice struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
