The McEwen Warriors entered their tilt with the Houston County Fighting Irish with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. McEwen put the hurt on Houston County with a sharp 47-24 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for McEwen, who have now won three matches by 20 points or more so far this season.
Houston County's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Preston Mitchell, who rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. Mitchell was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. Malaki Cary was another key contributor, gaining 162 total yards and two touchdowns.
McEwen's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Houston County, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 4-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McEwen will take on Collinwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Houston County, they will head out on the road to face off against Moore County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Moore County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matches -- so hopefully Houston County likes a good challenge.
