After a string of five wins, Ledford's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell 52-39 to the Oak Grove Grizzlies. The Panthers lost against the Grizzlies in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 69-26 score last time.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Izzy Smith, who went 6 of 11 en route to 14 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Smith has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Addie Love, who posted two points and three steals.
Kalin Favreau went supernova for Oak Grove, going 6 for 15 on her way to 17 points and six steals. With that strong performance, Favreau is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Cora Hadley, who put up seven points and 13 rebounds.
Ledford's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 14-3. As for Oak Grove, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-7.
Ledford wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 65-42 win against Montgomery Central on the 31st. Oak Grove has also already played their next matchup, a 59-12 victory against North Davidson on the 31st.
