The Graham Red Devils lost against the Northwood Chargers back in December of 2017, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The New Year welcomed Graham with a 83-34 whooping from Northwood. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Graham in their matchups with Northwood: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the defeat, Graham saw an underclassman step up: Micah Woods scored 23 points. Woods scored a full 67.6% of Graham's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylan Sinclair, who scored ten points.
Drake Powell was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with six steals and five assists for Northwood. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for him. Chad Graves was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with three steals.
Graham's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Northwood, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with that victory, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Graham will challenge North Moore at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. North Moore is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.9 points per game. As for Northwood, they will be playing at home against Cummings at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cummings will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 304th, while Northwood is ranked 55th).
