The Stoneman Douglas Eagles had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They came out on top against Taravella by a score of 57-45. The victory was all the more spectacular given Stoneman Douglas' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while the Trojans are ranked 146th).
Ethan Schwartzman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ayden Mclean, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Stoneman Douglas' win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-13. As for Taravella, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-6.
Stoneman Douglas will square off against the Bucks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Deerfield Beach has now lost 15 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8. As for Taravella, they will face off against the Lightning at TBD on Tuesday.
