Basketball Recap: Southwest Takes a Loss

Southwest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Tina-Avalon Dragons and fell 68-24. The Wildcats lost against the Dragons in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 48-41 score last time.

Southwest's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Hagen Stedem, who posted six points and five rebounds, and Peyton Moss, who earned five points and six steals. With that strong performance, Moss is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game.

Southwest's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Tina-Avalon, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwest will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Polo at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025. Tina-Avalon and Brunswick will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Brunswick's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matchups.
