Van Buren pushed their score all the way to 55 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 66-55 to Norman Thomas.
Meanwhile, Metropolitan's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Frederick Douglass Academy III, falling 91-41. While losing is never fun, Metropolitan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 730th, while Frederick Douglass Academy III is ranked 324th).
Van Buren has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Metropolitan, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.
