There's no place like home for the Salpointe Catholic Lancers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 51-39 win over Canyon del Oro on Wednesday. That's another feather in the cap for Salpointe Catholic, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Salpointe Catholic had a senior duo take command as Bobby Smith scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and Antonio Amador scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Amador scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of M. J. Gedebou, who scored five points along with ten rebounds.
Several Dorados players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Will Dixion, who scored ten points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tyler Skorupa, who scored six points.
Salpointe Catholic's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Canyon del Oro, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Salpointe Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Pueblo at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. Pueblo is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. Canyon del Oro won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Sahuaro at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Cisco Llamas and Dixion.
