The Tri-Valley Scotties will venture away from home to square off against the Meadowbrook Colts at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tri-Valley has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Tri-Valley managed to slip by West Muskingum the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Scotties came up short against the Tornadoes on Wednesday, falling 11-1. The matchup marked the Scotties' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Tri-Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blayne Riley, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Meadowbrook). They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over Maysville on Tuesday. The Colts haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Austin Warner and Braylon Lowery were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Warner struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Meanwhile, Lowery pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Warner a new career-high. At bat, Warner got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Lowery went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brady Arnold, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Cohen Miles was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.
Meadowbrook's record now sits at 3-1. As for Tri-Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
Meadowbrook's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Tri-Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Meadowbrook, though, as they've been averaging only 3.2 strikeouts. Will Tri-Valley keep running through batters, or will the Colts buck the trend?
Tri-Valley got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Meadowbrook by a conclusive 7-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Scotties since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
