Orestimba has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Gustine Reds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gustine took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Orestimba, who comes in off a win.
After only one point in their last game, Orestimba made sure to put some points up on the board against Le Grand on Wednesday. Orestimba enjoyed a cozy 78-63 win over Le Grand. Given Orestimba's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 429th, while Le Grand is ranked 1271st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Blake Melo continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Angel Reynoso was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Gustine pushed their score all the way to 56 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Delhi 61-56. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Gustine in their matchups with Delhi: they've now lost three in a row.
Orestimba's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.2 points per game. As for Gustine, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-19.
Everything came up roses for Orestimba against Gustine when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 74-30 victory. With Orestimba ahead 48-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
