Harding County is 8-0 against the Thunderhawks since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The two teams will face off at 8:00 p.m. on February 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Harding County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Saturday.
Harding County pushed their score all the way to 56, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 67-56 to Timber Lake. Harding County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Harding County saw an underclassman step up: Cohen Smith scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Dvorak, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Tiospaye Topa was able to grind out a solid win over the Tigers on Saturday, taking the game 54-45. The victory was just what Tiospaye Topa needed coming off of a 53-29 defeat in their prior matchup.
Harding County has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Tiospaye Topa, their win bumped their record up to 4-12.
Everything came up roses for Harding County against the Thunderhawks in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 89-44 win. With Harding County ahead 56-23 at the half, the match was all but over already.
