The Aquinas Knights lost against the Mogadore Wildcats back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Aquinas fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 40-38. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Aquinas in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the loss, Aquinas saw an underclassman step up: K'Lynn Carter dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds. That was a full 44.7% of Aquinas' points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Paris Everett, who scored four points along with 11 rebounds and four steals.
Mogadore's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Julie Tompkins, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals. Tompkins continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Amelia Morris, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds.
Aquinas' defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Mogadore, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aquinas will square off against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Canton South presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Knights in Ohio (the Wildcats are ranked 211th, while the Knights are ranked 581st). Mogadore's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Rockets at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th. Maplewood will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
