The Kofa Kings's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Pueblo Warriors at 1:10 p.m. on December 28th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Kofa was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 54-48 to Youngker.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Devin Diaz, who scored 13 points along with seven assists and three steals. Those seven assists set a new season-high mark for him. Elijah Braveheart was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Even though they lost, Kofa were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Pueblo's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight loss. The game between Pueblo and Sabino wasn't particularly close, with Pueblo falling 65-51. Pueblo has not had much luck with Sabino recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Jorge Franco put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 15 points and 17 rebounds. The matchup was his third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of David Hernandez, who scored 12 points.
Kofa has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for Pueblo, they bumped their record down to 2-11 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's matchup: Kofa have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 36.3% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Pueblo, though, as they've only made 36.4% of their threes per game this season. Given Kofa's sizeable advantage in that area, Pueblo will need to find a way to close that gap.
Kofa was taken down by Pueblo 69-26 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Kofa avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
