The Douglas Tigers's three-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. They came out on top against Spanish Springs by a score of 62-53. That 62-53 margin sets a new team best for Douglas this season.
Douglas was led to victory by Caden Thacker and Jett Lehmann. Thacker scored 20 points along with five assists and three steals, while Lehmann scored 19 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Thacker continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Jeremiah Pitts was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Spanish Springs lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tate Hummel, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Acosta, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Spanish Springs struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Douglas' victory bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Spanish Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
Douglas will head out on the road to face off against Damonte Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Damonte Ranch will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Spanish Springs will take on McQueen at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (McQueen is ranked 45th, while Spanish Springs is ranked 33rd).
