This season hasn't been kind to The Western Albemarle Warriors, who are still winless after their eighth matchup. They took a serious blow against Monticello on Friday, falling 35-0. Western Albemarle was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Monticello apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Leading Monticello to victory were Ezekiel Pour and Juelz Christmas-Jackson. Pour rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, while Christmas-Jackson rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry.
Western Albemarle's loss was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 4.0 points per game. As for Monticello, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Western Albemarle will look to defend their home field on Friday against Charlottesville at 7:00 p.m. Charlottesville comes in on a streak of failing to score more than eight points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Monticello, they will head out on the road to face off against Orange County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
