There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. A special shoutout goes to Portales's senior Julian Urioste, who scored five total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Can't Touch This
Portales's 47 - 7 win over Dexter last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Julian Urioste. Urioste earned four touchdowns and 145 yards rushing the ball. That performance landed Urioste among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The showdown between La Cueva (2nd in the power rankings) and Eldorado (4th) shaped up to be more of a takedown. La Cueva had all the answers against Eldorado, winning 40 - 19. La Cueva especially relied on senior D'andre Williams, who rushed for 104 yards and scored on one reception, and senior Dylan Summer, who threw for 246 yards and gained 74 yards on the ground.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Hobbs (5th in the power rankings) and Centennial (3rd). Both teams are rolling into the game after last-week wins. Of course, Hobbs and Centennial can't both win again this week, so we'll learn on Friday which team falters and which extends its success.
