Sunbelt recap September 24, 2013
Temescal Canyon moved up to 385 from 472 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Sunbelt. The Titans climbed the ranks as a result of beating La Quinta 38-14.
Paloma Valley extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Moreno Valley, 41-35. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Wildcats.
Perris's dynamic duo of Carlevon Manuel and Aaron Berry proved to be unstoppable against San Bernardino, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Manuel threw for 241 yards and 4 touchdowns and Berry had 129 yards receiving. Kenneth Paterson, helped Perris' passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 82 yards.
The Panthers' dynamic duo of Manuel and Berry proved tough for the Cardinals to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Demarco Prewitt was the best running back in the league this week. In 19 carries, he ran for 226 yards as Paloma Valley beat San Bernardino. Teammate Elliott Smith added to the ground attack by rushing for 55 yards.
Berry was the best wideout in Sunbelt this week as Howard Boyd's team defeated the Cardinals.
Prewitt was a beast in the backfield as Bert Esposito's team defeated the Vikings.
Manuel put up the best numbers in passing as the Panthers defeated San Bernardino.
He went 10-17 with 3 interceptions.
On the heels of Brent Boehm and Prewitt, the Wildcats have had great success on offense. Boehm leads the league in passing with 694 yards, while Prewitt has rushed for 687 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Perris' Paterson,, with 331 yards on 10 catches.
The Panthers and the Cardinals played the closest game in the league this week, with the Panthers eventually emerging with a 28-26 victory. Manuel ran for 43 yards during the win.
