Baseball Recap: Leyden Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Leyden barely beat Addison Trail the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles put the hurt on the Blazers with a sharp 20-9 victory on Thursday. With that win, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Sammy Calderon was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Josh Hill was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Leyden kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. They are 6-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Leyden pushed their record up to 15-12 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Addison Trail, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 14 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-22 record this season.

Leyden will venture away from home to face off against Glenbard West at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Addison Trail, they will host Lake Park at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
