Fallbrook hasn't had much luck against Westview recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Warriors will venture away from home to face off against the Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. Fallbrook is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Fallbrook is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 9-7 to Valley Center, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Warriors fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Jaguars since on Friday.
Kayla Brown and Olivia Castillo did some serious damage despite the final result: Brown went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI, while Castillo went 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Westview made sure to put some runs up on the board against Ramona on Friday. The Wolverines never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. Considering the Wolverines have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Westview also got a great performance from Kaya Rodriguez as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Rodriguez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kamryn Gonzalez was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Sarah Deng was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Westview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They are undefeated (10-0) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Westview's record is now 13-8-1. As for Fallbrook, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Fallbrook has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Westview struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fallbrook suffered a grim 16-0 defeat to Westview in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
