The Rye Country Day Wildcats will take on the St. Luke's Storm at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Rye Country Day comes in on five and St. Luke's on three.
While Rye Country Day didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 7-4 win over Greens Farms Academy on Friday. With that victory, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Andrew Leonard made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other pitching news, Brady Hollwedel looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Harry Holtman was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for Rye Country Day: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Brodie Moye was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
Rye Country Day hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greens Farms Academy struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, while St. Luke's put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Harvey. The Storm put the hurt on the Cavaliers with a sharp 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Storm, who have now won three games by ten runs or more so far this season.
St. Luke's also got a great performance from Matt Staub as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on David Carioto, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Gage Saresky, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
St. Luke's pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Rye Country Day, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Rye Country Day skirted past St. Luke's 3-2 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Storm turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
