The Live Oak Acorns's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight defeat. They took a 68-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gilroy. That's two games in a row now that Live Oak has lost by exactly 13 points.
Several Acorns players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Raymond Ramirez, who scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ramirez has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ethan Estrada Sanchez, who scored eight points along with two blocks.
Leading Gilroy to victory were Kaiden Gonzales and Danny Sanchez. Gonzales dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds, while Sanchez scored 16 points along with six assists and three steals. Gonzales hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Aldape, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Live Oak has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season. As for Gilroy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-15.
Live Oak will head out on the road to take on the Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Leland will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak alive. Gilroy will take on the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
