The Apprentice Academy Red Wolves lost against the Valor Preparatory Academy Owls back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Apprentice Academy was dealt a 78-20 loss at the hands of Valor Preparatory Academy. Apprentice Academy has struggled against Valor Preparatory Academy recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Apprentice Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Radear Watson. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points. Watson also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Ayden Eddington was another key contributor, scoring six points.
It was another big night for Bishop Witherspoon, who scored 30 points for Valor Preparatory Academy. That makes it six consecutive games in which Witherspoon has scored at least 25% of Valor Preparatory Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of DaCaree McCain, who scored 11 points.
Apprentice Academy bumped their record down to 0-4-1 with that defeat, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Valor Preparatory Academy, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
Apprentice Academy will head out on the road to face off against Queen's Grant at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Queen's Grant focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 last Friday. As for Valor Preparatory Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Lake Norman Christian at 6:00 p.m. Lake Norman Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Valor Preparatory Academy likes a good challenge.
