The Blount Leopards were the 46-35 winner over the Hillcrest Jaguars when they last played one another back in December of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. Blount took a 67-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hillcrest on Friday. Blount just can't catch a break and has now endured four losses in a row.
It was another big night for Robert Simpson, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and five blocks for Hillcrest. Simpson hasn't dropped below two blocks for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamir Sharpe, who scored 12 points.
Blount bumped their record down to 7-14 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Hillcrest, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season.
Blount will head out on the road to square off against Saraland at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Saraland has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19. As for Hillcrest, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Thomasville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Thomasville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 383rd, while Hillcrest is ranked 60th).
