Twentynine Palms is 1-9 against Indio since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rajahs at 3:15 p.m. Twentynine Palms is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Twentynine Palms is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They fell 6-2 to Coachella Valley.
Anthony Escandon was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Indio waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 19-7 margin over the Trojans. 19 seems to be a good number for the Rajahs as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Zackary Muniz made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Indio is 4-2 when Muniz allows one or fewer earned runs, but 6-9 otherwise. Muniz was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Indio got a massive performance out of Julian Mandujano, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4. Mandujano is becoming a predictor of the Rajahs' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 4-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jose Rodriguez, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Indio was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Indio pushed their record up to 10-11 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Twentynine Palms, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Twentynine Palms has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Indio struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Twentynine Palms might still be hurting after the 8-2 loss they got from Indio in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
