The Quad Cities Christian Eagles waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They blew past Unity Christian 56-34. With Quad Cities Christian ahead 35-14 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Leading Quad Cities Christian to victory were Kennedy Ochkie and Piper Ochkie. Ochkie scored 19 points along with seven steals, while Ochkie scored 18 points along with eight steals and six rebounds. Ochkie has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Raegan Ochkie, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Unity Christian saw an underclassman step up: Julia Van Kampen scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Maddy Wilbur, who scored four points along with nine rebounds.
Quad Cities Christian pushed their record up to 17-4 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Unity Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
Quad Cities Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Tri-State Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Tri-State Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last seven games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Unity Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Galesburg Christian at 12:00 p.m. on January 27th.
