First Academy hasn't had much luck against Community Christian Academy recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Lions are taking a road trip to challenge the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. First Academy has given up an average of 57 points per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Saturday, First Academy came up short against Colquitt Christian Academy and fell 56-48.
First Academy's defeat came about despite a quality game from Logan James, who almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine rebounds. Jeremiah Burke was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and ten boards.
Meanwhile, Community Christian Academy entered their tilt with CHESS Academy on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 68-60 win over the Knights.
Community Christian Academy's win came from a few key players that First Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kylin McDonald, who dropped a double-double with 31 points and 14 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last 16 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Thomas Hadley, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Community Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive games.
First Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Community Christian Academy, their record now sits at 3-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: First Academy has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 33.6 boards per game. However, it's not like Community Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.9 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
First Academy couldn't quite finish off Community Christian Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2025 and fell 53-51. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
