Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Golden Valley Bulldogs, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were beaten by Shafter 45-7 on Thursday. Golden Valley's loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Golden Valley still got an impressive performance from Nate Abbott, who rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. Abbott was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards.
Christopher Espinoza was on fire for Shafter: he rushed for 103 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 carries. Cash Guiterrez and his 103 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Shafter's victory.
Golden Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Shafter, they pushed their record up to 11-0 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
Golden Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Shafter has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Torres at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Torres is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
