The Middle Creek Mustangs will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the South Johnston Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Middle Creek has three straight victories, South Johnston has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Monday, Middle Creek slipped by Athens Drive 54-53.
Middle Creek got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Yasir Hall out in front who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. The game was Hall's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Clive Morrow, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, South Johnston ended up a good deal behind Southern Nash last Wednesday and lost 53-37. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points South Johnston has scored all season.
Middle Creek now has a winning record of 5-4. As for South Johnston, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
