A feisty cat fight will be fought as Paxton Bobcats face off against Chipley Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Paxton barely beat Vernon the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Paxton never let Vernon get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Friday. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Avionnah Padgett was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Paxton let Kenzie Lassiter and Alyssa Falk run wild. Lassiter scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Falk went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Delia Pennington was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.
Paxton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vernon only posted an OBP of .154.
Meanwhile, Chipley entered their tilt with Sneads on Friday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They blew past the Pirates 16-1.
Lauren Waits made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.
In other batting news, Kenzlee Nelson was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jadyn Pettis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Chipley's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.8 runs over those games. As for Paxton, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Paxton skirted past Chipley 9-7 in their previous matchup back in March. Does Paxton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Chipley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
