Basketball Game Preview: Kennedy Crusaders vs. Waukegan Bulldogs

The Kennedy Crusaders and the Waukegan Bulldogs will compete for holiday cheer at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Kennedy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their match on Thursday with ease, bagging a 79-30 win over Horizon Science Academy-Southwest. With that victory, the Crusaders brought their scoring average up to 52.2 points per game.

Kennedy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jovani Naverette, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave Naverette a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Veon Sargent-Williams, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 16 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Kennedy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 29 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Waukegan suffered their closest loss since January 10th on Saturday. They fell just short of Curie by a score of 67-65.

Kennedy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Waukegan, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
