The Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 74-60 win over Oceanside. Given Rancho Buena Vista's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while Oceanside is ranked 641st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rancho Buena Vista to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cj Aldrich, who scored 20 points along with five steals. Aldrich has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Trent Lotito was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Rancho Buena Vista has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Oceanside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-10.
Rancho Buena Vista will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Victory Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on January 13th. Victory Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Rancho Buena Vista likes a good challenge. As for Oceanside, they will head out on the road to take on El Camino at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. El Camino has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
