The game between them and Peyton wasn't particularly close, with Rocky Ford falling 64-46. Rocky Ford has struggled against Peyton recently, as their game on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Meloneers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Fabian Ortega, who scored 11 points along with three steals. Isaiah Vazquez-Gallegos was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Peyton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bryce Love led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Love has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Trent Gregg, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Rocky Ford dropped their record down to 1-14 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Peyton, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rocky Ford will take on Swallows Charter Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Colorado (Rocky Ford is ranked 308th, while Swallows Charter Academy is ranked 302nd). As for Peyton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dolores Huerta Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Dolores Huerta Prep has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
