The Mullins Auctioneers entered their tilt with the Andrews Yellowjackets with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Mullins came out on top against the Yellowjackets by a score of 53-41 on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Mullins also won the last time the pair played two weeks ago.
Mullins got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was JJ Davis out in front who scored 20 points along with four steals and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Davis posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Ernest Ford, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Several Yellowjackets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sharod Sumpter, who scored 13 points. Vincent Rhue was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Mullins' win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.9 points per game. As for Andrews, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.
Coincidentally, Mullins and the Yellowjackets will both be playing the Blazers the next time they take the court. Andrews will host Kingstree at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Mullins will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
