On Tuesday, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo got the win against Economedes by a conclusive 11-1. Considering the Bears have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Nikki Jo Hernandez tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo let Arianna Lugo and Aubrey Garza run wild. Lugo went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one triple, while Garza fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most home runs Garza has posted since back in March of 2024. Kaylie Lopez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in ten consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Weslaco took on Edinburg North on Tuesday. Weslaco's pitchers stepped up to hand Edinburg North a 4-0 shutout. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.8 runs. As for Weslaco, their record now sits at 7-10.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo came up short against Weslaco in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 10-6. Can Pharr-San Juan-Alamo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
