The Woodstock Wolverines posted their closest win yet this season on Friday. They skirted past Etowah 62-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Leading Woodstock to victory were Morghan Slater and bree rogers. Slater dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds, while rogers dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points rogers has scored all season. lily conkell was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and five assists.
When it comes to explaining why Etowah lost, one person who can't be blamed is Taylor Davis. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Taylor Wills, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Woodstock pushed their record up to 8-13 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.7 points per game. As for Etowah, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodstock will take on Sequoyah at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Sequoyah focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Monday. As for Etowah, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Creekview at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Creekview is ranked 102nd, while Etowah is ranked 115th).
