Baseball Recap: Greensburg Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Greensburg dropped their record down to 13-4 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the East Central Trojans by a score of 4-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-6 on Monday.

Ethan Smith put in work while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Lance Coy was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Zayden Miller made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Cy Miller, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

As for East Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games.

On East Central's side, their win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Collin Harrill, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
