The Wausa Vikings couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost to Plainview at home by a decisive 53-36 margin on Friday. Wausa has struggled against Plainview recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Wausa's loss came despite strong showings from Taylor Dawson and Sienna West. Dawson scored 15 points along with 3 blocks, while West scored 11 points.
Wausa struggled to work together and finished the game with only a assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Plainview racked up ten.
Plainview had a senior duo take command as Abbie Kromarek scored 18 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals and Teya Boyer scored 20 points along with 8 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Peighton Arlt, who scored 7 points.
Wausa's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Plainview, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wausa will challenge Boyd County at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Boyd County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday. As for Plainview, they will head out on the road to face off against Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
