The Green Mountain Rams will face off against the Falcon Falcons at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Green Mountain comes in on eight and Falcon on three.
Green Mountain is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Sand Creek 43-40. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rams have posted since January 8th.
Green Mountain's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Simon Lunsford, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Sam Mielenz, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 17 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lunsford has scored at least a third of Green Mountain's points. Another player making a difference was Ben Swanson, who posted four points along with six boards and three steals.
Green Mountain was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They are 16-4 when they've passed the ball that well.
Meanwhile, Falcon didn't have too much trouble with Montrose on Friday as they won 65-51.
Green Mountain better keep an eye on Tyler Cox. He was instrumental in Falcon's win, shooting 60% from the field en route to 14 points and five rebounds. Cox is on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games he's played. Christian Bertholf was another key player, putting up ten points and five boards.
Green Mountain pushed their record up to 17-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Falcon, their win bumped their record up to 18-8.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest-scoring teams around. Green Mountain hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 60.9 points per game. However, it's not like Falcon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 65 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can put up more.
Green Mountain strolled past Falcon in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a score of 80-61. Does Green Mountain have another victory up their sleeve, or will Falcon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
