Video: Cole Dubots' highlights vs. Murrieta Valley
See the Vista Murrieta running back in action earlier this season.
According to the MaxPreps Qwixcore reporter, at least 1,000 folks attended Friday's Southern Section West Valley Division semifinal game pitting the
Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) Cougars and host
Vista Murrieta (Murrieta, Calif.) Broncos.
The field conditions were dry and weather conditions cold.
Following a five-overtime thriller, needless to say, the action, field and conditions heated up greatly.
A
Cole Dubots 12-yard run clinched a 62-56 Vista Murrieta victory, inspiring one Twitter account to write: "You won't see many more wild."
Too bad there were only about 1,000 onlookers.
In the fifth overtime, the Cougars went for it on fourth down instead of kicking a field goal and were stopped. That set up the game-winning touchdown for Dubots.

A last-second 27-yard field goal by Rancho Cucamonga's
Joey Mendoza in regulation tied the score at 35, sending the game into overtime.
The Cougars'
Jaylon Redd scored on a 5-yard run to go up 42-35 before Vista Murrieta tied it on a keeper by
Kyle Williams.
After both teams failed to score, once again Rancho Cucamonga took the lead 49-42 on a 15-yard pass from
Nick Acosta to
David Farmer. And once again, Vista Murrieta responded as
Karson Greeley ran it in to tie the game at 49.
The Broncos took a 56-49 lead when
Khalil Shakir hurdled a defender and got into the end zone, but this time Rancho Cucamonga came through in the clutch as Redd hauled in a 10-yard pass from
Angel Matute.
The Cougars almost elected to go for the win and a 2-point conversion, but elected to kick the conventional PAT.
Rancho Cucamonga elected to gamble the next overtime period by going for it on fourth down. The Cougars came up short and Dubots scored the game winner.
It didn't seem as though the game would need one overtime, let alone five. Vista Murrieta led 35-17 entering the fourth quarter before Rancho Cucamonga sent it into extra time.
Vista Murrieta (12-1) will plays Mission Viejo (13-0) in the title game and for a berth in the California Interscholastic Federation Regional Championships.
Mission Viejo defeated Chino Hills, 56-21.
