The Hillsboro Eagles will head out to challenge the Benbrook Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hillsboro has given up an average of 49.9 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Hillsboro is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Glen Rose on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Eagles were beaten by the Tigers 56-14. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 741st, while the Tigers are ranked 323rd).
Although Hillsboro took the loss, they still got scores from Braylen Benson and Kaden Grim.

Even if they lost, Hillsboro's defensive line still kept up the pressure with five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Javien Blue and Trevor Clark, who racked up four sacks between them. Clark also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with ten.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Benbrook faced off against Godley on Friday. The Bobcats put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 35-14 win. The contest marked the Bobcats' most dominant victory of the season.
Benbrook's win came from a few key players Hillsboro will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brennan Barton, who threw for 315 yards and four TDs, and also rushed for 31 yards and one touchdown. What's more, he racked up 119.1 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Waylin Barton was Brennan's top target, picking up 79 receiving yards and three scores.
Benbrook didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Will Cook led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.
Benbrook now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Hillsboro, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
The upcoming game will be a clash of competing strengths. Hillsboro has deployed a run-first offense that has averaged 211.1 rushing yards a game. Meanwhile, Benbrook has preferred to attack from the air: they average 296.3 passing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
