Trezevant has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the KIPP Collegiate phoenix at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Trezevant knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully the phoenix like a good challenge.
Last Friday, Trezevant strolled past the Red Devils with points to spare, taking the game 62-46.
Trezevant relied on the efforts of CIARA THOMAS, who scored eight points along with 16 rebounds and five blocks, and SHELBY GRAY, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. GRAY hasn't dropped below 19 points for six straight games. Another player making a difference was MARISSA WILLIAMS, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, KIPP Collegiate's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Monday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 64-8 loss at the hands of Memphis Business Academy. While losing is never fun, KIPP Collegiate can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 412th, while the Execs are ranked 128th).
Trezevant's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for KIPP Collegiate, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-14.
Everything came up roses for Trezevant against the phoenix when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 78-11 win. With Trezevant ahead 53-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
