The Perry Pirates will be playing at home against the Sandy Valley Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Perry put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Crestwood 56-0 at home. Given Perry's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Crestwood is ranked 533rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jayden Studio was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown. Studio was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards.
Sandy Valley fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. Everything went their way against Lakeview on Friday as Sandy Valley made off with a 42-21 win.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sandy Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nick Petro, who rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. Petro hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games. Chad Davis was another key contributor, rushing for 80 yards and two touchdowns.
Perry's victory was their 13th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 11-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.0 points per game. As for Sandy Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
