Softball Game Preview: Brandon Bulldogs vs. North Pike Jaguars

The Brandon Bulldogs will venture away from home to take on the North Pike Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Brandon has eight straight wins, North Pike has 11 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Monday, Brandon beat Madison Central 7-2.

Dakota Davis made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Davis was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Chloe Jenkins and Hannah Jo Sullivan did most of the damage at the plate: Jenkins scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Sullivan scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance gave Jenkins a new career-high in runs.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times North Pike and Clinton had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. North Pike lost 14-6 to Clinton on Monday.

Brandon's record is now 7-0. As for North Pike, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.

North Pike's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Brandon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .356. It's a different story for North Pike, though, as they've only averaged .189. Will they be able to contain Brandon's hitters?

Everything went Brandon's way against North Pike in their previous matchup back in February, as Brandon made off with a 14-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brandon since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
