Itasca is a perfect 6-0 against Milford since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Wampus Cats will welcome the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Itasca's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Milford has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Itasca barely beat Meridian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wampus Cats were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Yellowjackets last Tuesday. The Wampus Cats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Maddox Abrego made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Abrego was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other pitching news, Itasca got a great performance from Gage Bassett as he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, Bassett posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.
Back at the plate, Itasca let Aydan Villarreal and Caden Littlejohn run wild. Villarreal went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Littlejohn went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most hits Villarreal has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Mears, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Milford came up short against Bluff Dale on Tuesday and fell 9-6.
Ayden Martinez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Ayden Tucker was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Milford now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Itasca, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Itasca hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. However, it's not like Milford struggles in that department as they've averaged .370. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Itasca's way against Milford in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, as Itasca made off with a 17-0 win. Will the Wampus Cats repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
