The Mountain View Toros will head out on the road to challenge the Tucson High Magnet School Badgers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Mountain View sitting on six straight wins and Tucson High Magnet School on ten.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Mountain View walked away with it. They never let the Tigers onto the board and left with a 3-0 victory on Thursday. Mountain View's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four matchups.
They hit Gilbert with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from
Diana Cota-Ruiz,
Tessa Christensen, and
McKenna Johnson.
Meanwhile, Tucson High Magnet School was able to grind out a solid win over Sunnyside on Monday, taking the game 2-0. Given Tucson High Magnet School's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Sunnyside is ranked 96th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mountain View is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4-3 record this season. As for Tucson High Magnet School, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2.
