Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends Surry Central's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Surry Central unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 5-0 to the Forbush Falcons. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Golden Eagles were not able to get on the board.

Dru Gaddy was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February.

At the plate, Surry Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Pardue, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double. Jax Whitaker also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Surry Central's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-2. As for Forbush, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

While Surry Central had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
